ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Known as the Mineral Doctor and the Father of Liquid Mineral Supplementation
Dr. Joel D. Wallach is a veterinary scientist, naturopathic physician, and founder of the 90 Essential Nutrients framework. In 1977, working as a research veterinary pathologist, he made the world's first non-human cystic fibrosis discovery in selenium-deficient primates — a breakthrough that connected mineral deficiency to disease in animals and challenged the nutritional science of his era.
When he tried to bring those findings to human medicine, the established institutions resisted. So he returned to school and became a naturopathic physician, building what is now four decades of research, writing, and clinical work on the role of minerals in human and animal health.
He is the author of more than 13 books and 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including the Smithsonian-listed textbook Diseases of Exotic Animals. Over 45 million copies of his audio recordings have been distributed worldwide. His work bridges veterinary research, naturopathic medicine, and decades of clinical observation.
Dr. Wallach's central thesis is that the human body requires 90 essential nutrients — 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids, and 2 essential fatty acids — that modern soil-depleted diets cannot reliably provide. His books document the science behind that framework, the connection between mineral deficiencies and chronic health conditions, and the nutritional protocols his readers across the world apply to support their own long-term wellness.
